Choosing Great Wedding Invitations- It’s Easier than You Think

Your wedding invitations will be your guest’s first taste of the theme and style of your wedding.  I get so excited every time I get a wedding invitation in the mail.  I can’t wait to rip it open to see the style of the wedding.  Will it be a beach wedding theme or a spring wedding theme?  I love wedding invitations because they help me to understand the personality of the couple.

When I receive an elegant wedding invitation, I know to expect an upscale event.  A contemporary wedding invitation lets me know that the couple is modern and sleek.  Often I base the wedding gifts that I select on the overall style of the invitation.  It is very important to choose wedding invitations that will accurately portray your style and event.

Luckily, there are many choices available.  I was shocked as I started planning my wedding to see the countless invitations that were available.  It seemed that there was every color, style, size and price range available.  These tips will help you narrow the field so that you can choose the wedding invitations that work best for you.

Start with your budget.  This is always the best place to begin.  How much can you spend on wedding invitations?  Determine your budget and then stick to it.  I found that it worked well to avoid looking at invitations out of my price range.  I tend to get attached to things and didn’t want to fall in love with wedding invitations that I couldn’t have.

Another thing to consider is the ability to match selected invitations to other wedding paper needs like the rehearsal dinner invitation, your engagement announcement or even your wedding ceremony program.  If having a matching set is important to you, make sure you look at invitations with this capability.

Start by narrowing the field.  Do you want your wedding invitations to be a certain color or style?  Look at available choices and then choose five or six favorites for further consideration.  Choosing one invitation from thousands can be difficult.  However, if you choose several favorites, you will make this decision a lot easier.

Once you have a few candidates for your invitation, get advice.  Friends, family and even your fiancée can provide valuable insight concerning the invitation that you should select.  Listen to everyone’s advice but remember the final decision is yours.  Make sure you choose an invitation that you love.

Choosing a wedding invitation can be a fun way to showcase your wedding theme to your guests before the wedding ceremony even begins.
