One of the most special parts of planning a wedding is deciding who will be in your bridal party. Most couples choose a best man and a maid or matron of honor. Then they decide on bridesmaids and groomsmen. Some couples then add a flower girl. If you are unfamiliar with the term “flower girl” it is usually a young girl who walks down the aisle on the big day dropping flower petals. It is often a special relative of the couple who is not yet old enough to be considered a bridesmaid. The couple presents their bridal party with a thank you gift on the day of the wedding, but often the bridesmaid gift is not appropriate for the flower girl. Because of this, a flower girl gift must also be chosen. My little sister was the flower girl at my wedding nine years ago, she was just 7 years old at the time. Choosing the proper flower girl gift was a bit of a challenge. My little sister would have been just thrilled with a new barbie doll, but I knew I wanted it to be much more special then that. After some careful thought and consideration, I chose a necklace that had a single pearl dangling from it as her flower girl gift. As she got older she could add other pearls on it for other special occasions as well. I also gave  her a new barbie, which at the time I could tell she liked much more then the necklace. As she got older, she did come to appreciate the necklace more and more. Now she is sixteen and her necklace is filling up rather quickly, and she wears it with pride. If you are in the predicament of choosing a flower girl gift, take into consideration the age of your flower girl. It is important to choose something memorable, but you want her to have a bit of fun too. Whatever you choose, your flower girl will always be a memorable part of your wedding day.
