How to Write 500 Thank You Notes
We all know how much time, money and effort go into planning a executing a wedding. It is, quite possibly, the best day of your adult life. So the day passes, everything goes beautifully and exactly as planned, and then it hits you; you still have to do the thank yous.
Besides the actual wedding, the thank yous are the next most important thing. Relatives are very generous at weddings, and if they feel like there was no thought put into the thank yous, they will be insulted. You have to spend a reasonable amount of time on them to make them nice. On the other hand, you are exhausted and just got done planning the party of a lifetime and you really just want to get them done. This was the boat I was in five years ago when I had the greatest idea for a way to streamline the thank you cards so they aren’t as tedious.
Go to your local rubber stamp making store to get a few stamps made. I had an entire heartfelt note written out in my best hand-writing and I brought it into the store and asked them if they could make a stamp from the note. They said they could and created the stamp. I got a bunch of different colors of ink and brought home the supplies for the thank yous that I had ordered. I got a few of my nieces together and made coffee with my sisters and everyone got a job. They thought that the personalized stamp was the greatest idea. I didn’t think much of it at first, but after I stopped to think about it, it was a pretty good idea. It was a stamp so it would allow us to quickly stamp the heartfelt thank you that I created before. We alternated colors and completed the thank yous (all 500 of them) in about three hours. From the stories I’d heard, it usually takes around 6 hours to get thank yous done.
This innovation ended up producing a thank you card that looked like it was professionally created. People loved it so much that they thanked me for my thank yous.
