The Engagement

The engagement period should be fun and exciting. It is a time to plan and prepare for your wedding and for your life together. In the process, you will get to know each other and your families better.

There are no rules that state how long an engagement should be.

• It will take more time to prepare for an elaborate wedding.
• A shorter engagement can be less stressful.

One of the most important things to remember about the engagement and the work involved in planning a wedding is have a loving and forgiving attitude toward friends and members of both families. This does not mean that you must give in to everyone else's ideas about the wedding, but courtesy and smiles will go a long way in paving the road to pleasant future relationships.
