The Engagement Ring

There are a number of things to consider when it comes to an engagement ring.

• An engagement ring is not essential. Many couples decide to go with matching wedding bands instead.
• The groom has the option of surprising his lady with a ring or letting her select her own engagement ring.
• Most engagement rings are set with a diamond, but other precious or semi-precious stones may be used instead. 
• The groom may give the bride a ring that has been passed down in his family.
• The ring may be worn as soon as she receives it or on the day of the official announcement.
