Wedding Expenses
For many years there were strict rules concerning how the costs of a wedding were divided. The bride's family paid for most of the wedding. The groom and his family paid for things such as the wedding ring and the rehearsal dinner. Other smaller expenses were the attendants' responsibility.
Happily, today the rules are much more relaxed. Many couples pay for their own wedding, especially if they have been living away from their parent's home or if this is not their first marriage.
Even if the parents pay for the wedding, the sharing of expenses is often handled in a more flexible manner than in the past.
It is important to remember that the marriage is more important than the wedding. It is foolish to spend so much on the wedding that you begin your life together in debt. A simple wedding can be just as beautiful as an elaborate affair.
