Parent deceased

When a parent is deceased, the invitation is issued in the name of the widow or widower. The deceased parent will not be at the wedding, and to include his or her name on the invitation would cast a shadow on what should be a joyful occasion.

If the bride and groom wish to remember the parent who has passed away, they may want to place a tasteful memorial vase on a table in the foyer of church or include a brief candle lighting ceremony at the beginning of the service.
